In vogue at fashion rocks

It's a good thing she didn't sneeze mid song with all those feathers being waved front, right, and center. She did a pretty good version but I prefer the choreography of the original at the Girlie Show.

Sticky & sweet

If you want to make a comeback, you gotta do it big. And Britney sure did it right this time by agreeing to take part in Madonna's Sweet & Sticky Tour. I think because of this, people would think that "yeah, maybe she's cool if Madonna used her for the tour." When the rumor of a Madonna concert happening in this part of the third world, I was a bit excited. I won't even lie about it. But really, I was hoping it wasn't going to push through because I felt I won't be able to get front seat tickets and I'm not sure if I'll be willing to settle for anything less. So if I wasn't going to watch it because of that, then nobody can (insert evil laughter with thunder and lightning). I hope they release another CD and DVD of this because this looks like a winner.

Sound review: Hard Candy

I've been listening to Hard Candy for over a week now thanks to the spoils of piracy. All I can say is.. It's nothing great. I think all the excitement was gone in well, 4 minutes. Justin Timberlake, Timbaland, and whoever else she worked with sure left their mark on each of the 12 tracks. Some of the tracks sounded like something off FutureLoveSex and Shock Value. Some musical elements weren't all to surprising because they seem to have been used in collaborations with other artists like Nelly Furtado. I especially love Devil Wouldn't Recognize You because it's a different kind of ballad and I lurv how the melodies are layered in an electronica sort of way. As quiet as it is tonight You'll almost think you were safe Your eyes, are full of surprises They cannot predict my fate Waiting underneath the stars There something you should know The angels they surround my heart Telling me to let you go I bet he couldn't I bet he couldn't recognize But I fed right into it Who am I to criticize Somehow I'll get through it And you won't even realize Falling through your own disguise It's like over and over You're pushing me right down to the floor I should just walk away Over and over I keep on comming back for more I play into your fantasy Now that it's over You can lie to me right through your smile I see behind your eyes Now I'm sober The more intoxicating my mind Even the devil wouldn't recognize you But I do Even the devil wouldn't recognize you But I do Even the devil wouldn't recognize you But I do Even the devil wouldn't recognize you But I do, I do, I do You almost fooled yourself this time Let all the saints be graced You hide your sadness behind your smile And you keep your lost heartbreak You stepped up there along a ledge It's much higher than it seems But I've been on that ledge before You can't hide yourself from me I bet he couldn't I bet he couldn't recognize But I fed right into it Who am I to criticize Somehow I'll get through it And you won't even realize Falling through your own disguise I also like Dance 2night because it's such a happy song. Plus, it's a duet and I'm a sucker for duets. Madonna: Move your body Get me from across the floor Everybody's watchin' But I just wanna give you more Don't care bout nothin' I'm fallin' for your love in the worst way Justin: Move closer I can feel your body rise The heat from you And I just have to fantasize We're all alone now And I don't care what people have to say Chorus (Madonna) You don't have to be beautiful To be understood You don't have to be rich and famous To be good You just gotta give more more more Than you ever have before Let's dance tonight dance tonight And groove around the world Dance Tonight Dance Tonight With a boy and with a girl I wanna dance tonight, dance tonight (Bridge) Do it, do it Let me turn you on Let the music pull you through it Til the break of dawn Do it, do it While the night is young Let the music pull you through it Til the lights go on In our zone Do you wanna take it further And before too long Gonna start to wonder Are you a one trick pony Or do you wanna... Justin: I'm so into you... Madonna: I've heard it all before Justin: What should I do? Madonna: Get me on the floor Don't spoil this moment Cause talk is cheap I don't have time to waste All in all, everything else for me still needs some getting used to. Hard Candy is definitely not what Ray of Light was to me, which I loved from track 1 to 13.

Sweet!

I was having second thoughts of getting the new Madonna CD because I already had it uploaded in my iPod last week but when Jaimie texted me and said that the CD was already in Music One, I told her to get it. I'm a bit disappointed with the printing. It looks dark. How very third world, I thought. But at least I'll have better quality sounding tracks now. And no, it doesn't have lyrics. It's all photos of Madonna with either candy wrapper or a huge lolly in the background. Someone's running out of creative juices...

I'll Remember

There are some songs in my favourite list that I can't stop listening to. They're the types that if I heard it playing, I wouldn't have the heart to change it midway. This track from the With Honors OST is one of them. I watched the movie in Woodside in New York. I don't know why I insisted to watch it. I guess it was because Moira Kelly was in it. Anyway, when I heard the song, I extremely loved it. I loved the lyric, the melody, and this remix by William Orbit.

Heartbreak hotel

I was watching this movie yesterday about relationships and got so affected I started listening to tear jerker songs the rest of the day. Rihanna finally released the official video of her song, Take a Bow. Such a relief to be able to watch it - no more photo slideshows in Youtube! I had a feeling the video was going to be this way. But then again, how else can you portray someone cheating on you under 4 minutes? Madonna did a pretty good job with her Take a Bow. Love the car. Makes you feel like eating paella after. This is for my good friend, KC, who has since taken a bow. Bravo!

$$$

You know you're filthy rich when... - you can afford to buy a penthouse at One Hyde Park in London. At £100 million, it will be the most expensive flat in the world, upon completion in 2010. It will feature bullet proof windows, purified air systems and “panic rooms”, because you're worth it!

Managed by brothers Christian and Nick's development company Candy & Candy, the project features 80 flats designed by architect Richard Rogers with communal spas, squash courts and a private wine-tasting facility.

OR - you buy the property next door so you could build your own gym - you buy yourself a pub when you love the beer they serve and the ambience of the place Madonna did just that. Click the pic to read more.

Sweet stuff

Guess who's really coming to Manila this July?
Samsung (errr..) was able to close the deal with a sponsorship package worth oodles and oodles of money. Say, two Mercedes Benz S500s or three Jaguar XJs- more or less.
According to Billboard Magazine, Madonna will be releasing her new record called Licorice this April.
Which means, she might be belting out new tunes. Im guessing it's going to be a small-scale concert, not Confessions Tour proportions. Maybe like Brixton Academy.
I was able to hear a 35-second sample and it sounds pretty promising. Justin Timberlake (who she's working with for this record) said he wanted to make it sound like an updated "Holiday."

Cmon, Vogue

Guess who's coming to town some time July? According to Happy's cousin who works for MTV, the material girl is going to visit Las Islas Filipinas some time in July. Exciting news! but it makes you wonder what the hell she'll be singing? The Confessions Tour CD has been out for a while and it'd be weird if she performed songs from her Confessions CD for the heck of it. And her new album, called Licorice according to Peculiar Paolo, will be released late this year like most of her other records. Last year, rumor was that Ricky Martin was supposed to shake his bon bon here but he never showed. Justin Timberlake's concert was originally scheduled for February but was pushed back all the way to the end of the year. Not that I'd want to watch that.
