Just when I thought raking almost 50 grand on long sleeved shirts, jackets, pants, and shoes was enough to earn me a Tyler loyalty card, I was told yesterday that I need to buy 10 more items to get my freebie.
Apparently, my shnazzload of purchases I made two months ago didn't reach the cut off, which was September 15th.
"When was my last purchase?" I asked the sales person.
"September 14."
It was the most ironic moment ever.
Anyway, the other sales person said that the loyalty thingamajig is on a experimental phase.
So there.

The long & short of it
I've got skinny legs. I don't know which side I got it from because both sides have serious hip and thigh enlargement tendencies that sometimes, even Belo can't fix.
That's why I'm very particular when I buy pants. It always has to be custom made because if I get off the rack, the waist may be okay but the leg part will make me look like a malnourished MC Hammer.
And I don't want that.
Long before I discovered the wonders of custom made pants, I didn't have a choice but to buy off the rack. Back then, all what mattered was for the pants to make it appear I have a behind.
They did the trick but there was always something uncomfortable with the fit. If it bulged in the wrong places, it was too wrinkle friendly or too hot to wear.
Don't even bother asking why I even bought them.
Anyway, I came across the comedy issue of Details magazine two weeks ago and it had this DIY section on how to turn pants into shorts. Luckily, I was really intending to buy a new pair of shorts because my favourite pair of khaki shorts isn't anywhere near the shade of what it used to be.
When I got home and with very sharp shears in hand, I followed the instructions in the magazine and snipped away.
Now I have two perfectly good pairs of shorts - for free!
I'm still deciding if I should cuff `em or not. What do you think?
Can't touch this.

Denim
I love The Sartorialist. When I'm in doubt on what to wear, I check it and get ideas on how to wear which and with what. It's a good thing it's warmer in Europe now or else having to look at winter frock will just be useless.
I was browsing his blog earlier and this pair of pants caught my eye.
I think I'll head to Defacto next week to have them make me a pair like it.
No, not the white one. And not the dark blue one.
There you go. The eye popping blue pair.
I actually have a pair in baby blue but it's been tricky wearing it lately because the fit has turned R-rated.
Anyway, I love Defacto jeans. They're comfy, they get the size right, and it's just in Mile Long. No need to trod on over after Rockwell to get a decent pair of denims made. I first read about them in Gino de la Paz's column in Supreme. I was meaning to visit the store (they only open at 3pm!) for the longest time but finally managed to after a couple of months.
I now have 7 pairs: 3 dark denims, 1 red, 1 white, 1 grey, and 1 baby blue.
In other denim news, Bryanboy blogged about Cecile and Ino collaborating for Viktor Jeans. That should be a fun and interesting collection. I've always thought Cecile has great taste when it comes to style.
Apparently, the collection is no more. Hmph.
Interesting concept though.

Proud pinoy
In grade school, I loathed having to recite the panatang makabayan because I felt it was such a tiring ordeal to keep your arm up at a certain degree for about 5 minutes. If it wasn't, the teacher would come and hit your arm with a wooden ruler.
You know that ruler that came in a natural finish? The one that never really made extremely straight lines?
I think standing for the national anthem at the last full show in the cinema is a waste of time. Go on with the movie, I say.
I think putting your right hand on your left breast is kinda funny. Especially if you notice that the person next to you doesn't have clean fingernails.
Okay, so I'm not exactly the most nationalistic and patriotic person.
But I will proudly wear these uber nationalistic shirts I got today from Collezione C2.
Rhett's idea of using the map and slapping it on clothes is just sheer genius.
I already bought one map shirt before I left for my OZ-HK trip because I wanted to wear it with pride outside the country. It beats having to wear those neon Island Souvenir shirts.
Not that I have worn them. Ever.
Rhett and C2 are a really brilliant match.

Mabuhey
For the long weekend, I was contemplating in buying a Philippine flag that I could tie on the antenna of my car. I thought it'd look patriotic (and cute) for it to flutter in the breeze as I drove from Alabang to Majayjay where I spent the three-day break with my family and visiting relatives from the US.
I saw a street vendor selling a bunch along Los Banos but I figured there will be more further down.
But there weren't any. I guess they all went on a holiday, too.
As I was on my way home to Alabang earlier, I thought of swinging by Collezione C2 at Festival to check on Rhett's summer styles. I totally forgot to look at them when I saw the map shirt.
It was almost the same one I wanted to get but Robby C beat me to it when Rhett showed it at the first Fashion Watch show.
He even got the lego belt. Grrr.
I wanted to get the Lacoste-like material shirt with the map pretending to be Ralph Lauren's big pony but the colours they didn't have it in weren't nice.
I opted for this simple white shirt with maps on the front.
What I love about it is that the print isn't iron-on.
And the fit is perfect.
And it's only less than P500!
Now that's fashionable patroitism for pesos well spent!

My week so far
All my bags are packed I'm ready to go... to spend a day of sloth-like living in Majayjay. I've stocked up on DVDs and I plan to watch them all day till my eyes bleed or fall out from fatigue. or whichever comes first. I also might consider playing with the dogs, chase after them, that sorta retarded activity.
