Rock-a-bye baby

I haven't seen Murfy since I've been staying in Makati for the last couple of weeks. When I finally came home to Alabang for the weekend, I was shocked to see a taller and darker furred puppy. I played with him for a bit and left him to harass the pugs in the kitchen. When I closed the door, he barked and I felt bad when I heard it because I was thinking that bark might have meant he didn't want me to leave him. So I got him and made him sleep in my room which as it turns out, might not have been a very good idea. He inched himself closer to me, positioned himself, then slept.

He's really asleep. He just likes to pretend he isn't.
I realized he's a bad bedspacer because he not only snores, he twitches and moves a lot. And he also doesn't budge when I tell him to move. But it's ok.

Sleepy sleepy

Murfy used to like sleeping on the floor because it was cool. Until he was introduced to The Pillow. He was not used to such softness. He was fine with Australian floorboards but I guess, he thought change might be good. So inch by inch, body part by body part, he'd slowly climb on top of The Pillow. Until he discovered it to be a more comfortable place to sleep on. That was until I put him on top of The Bed the other day. I put him on top of my tummy, massaged his ears then he fell asleep. I carried him back to The Pillow when I was about to hit the sack. Last night while I was in bed reading the premiere issue of Roam, he sat down and looked at me with those sad puppy eyes. He wanted to be carried up to the bed. So I did.

He instantly fell asleep and didn't want to move or wake up even when I was already nudging him and calling his name. He took up almost half of the bed. And he's only about 3 months old.
In the course of the night, he'd move to the foot of the bed and back, which woke me up because I'm a really light sleeper. Around 330am, he kept on walking all over the bed that I had to wake up, massage his ears and hope that he'd go back to sleep. He eventually did but woke up at 6am.

Living with Murfy

Who would have thought that an afternoon of this: Would lead to a long night of telling him to stop biting the cable of the lamp, attempting to bite his electric fan, eating his towel, and to quit pouncing on his dental bone? And when he takes a piss in almost all the corners of the room (with matching crap), how could you scold him when he looks at you this way:

Puppy love

My car was sort of an impulse purchase but I don't ever regret buying it. The shirts I got in Tyler two weeks ago, which I totally forgot about are impulse purchases too. I don't know why I got a dark blue shirt when I hardly wear that colour, but I'm sure it'll come in handy some day. Yesterday, I made another impulse purchase and only because I felt sorry and a little bit annoyed that my excitement over it wasn't shared by many. But this purchase was the funnest to make. Murfy is my new 2-month old yellow labrador. He's still tiny but he's got paws as big as Australia.

He slept soundly from the breeder's house in dasma till we got to the condo.
After he went out for a walk last night, he was totally knocked out that I had to carry him to my room.  He woke me up at 530am not only because of his whimpering but from the stench of his crap that he deposited underneath my bed. It stunk so much that even if I retreated beneath the thick comforter, I could still smell it. He needs to change his dog food to keep the stink away. He hoovers his food, drinks like there's no tomorrow, and stretches his legs as if he was part of the Chinese olympic gymnastics team.
I had the driver buy him a harness and bowls that turned out too big for him so I had to walk to Landmark over lunch to get him smaller stuff.
Murfy will be a nomad, too shuttling from Makati to Alabang and maybe the once-in-a-while trips to Majayjay so he can swim in the pool.
